BRAND vs. BRANDING

Most businesspeople often get confused when talking about their organization's marketing, particularly with regard to brands and branding. Perhaps one of the biggest mistake in business, is the use of "brand" and "branding" interchangeably. 


A brand is not branding.  The difference between brand and branding is that one is a marketing tool and the other is an action. A brand is an overall experience of a customer that distinguishes an organization or product from its competitors from the eyes of the consumer. 


Branding is not advertising. Branding is about defining, while advertising is about promoting. Your brand is the result of the branding process. Your brand describes who you are and what you do by use of visual identity. It is now people identify, know and remember you.
